What are wedding rings?
A wedding ring is a ring, usually made of metal that indicates that the wearer is married.
Wedding rings were previously worn in Europe but nowadays, the custom has spread all over the world. There was a time when only women wore wedding rings but now, men wear them too.
Wedding rings are often made of gold or some other precious metal. They are among the few items permitted to be worn by prison inmates. This shows us the cultural importance of wedding rings.
Why do we wear wedding rings on the left hand?
In ancient times, it was believed that the vein in the fourth finger on the left hand ran directly to one’s heart. This made the Greeks and Romans wear their wedding rings on this finger to signify the love a couple shares. The vein was called the love vein.
Ladies, next time you slip on your wedding ring after a bath, always see it as the symbol of everlasting love between you and your husband.
I hope you know not everyone wants to get married! #Justsaying
